Well, I guess this site is on Hiatus

The dream is gone as Clemson is now stuck with the master of mediocrity and our favorite coach Paul Johnson has signed on to our ACC rival Georgia Tech. We can no longer be "for" Paul Johnson as he is now a competitor, but we can still be anti-Tommy Bowden over at www.antibowden.com. So until we get another shot at hiring Paul Johnson, I wish him good fortune (except vs Clemson). That is all.

AP Article on the Johnson Move

Johnson to Tech

Johnson came to Navy from Georgia Southern, where he lead the Eagles to two national championships. Overall, Johnson is 107-39 in 11 seasons.

Damn, that's impressive. I hate Georgia Tech, and this is going to make those games even tougher. I doubt we beat them for a while.

Paul Johnson Agrees to Coach at Georgia Tech

Bad news Clemson fans. The deal is all said and done, all that remains is the signature.

Get ready to be owned by Georgia Tech again. We had a chance to dump Tommy and get Johnson, but we didn't. This is going to be bad for Clemson. Congrats to Paul Johnson though, time for him to prove himself.

*UPDATE*
JacketsOnline is reporting it's a done deal.

Just a quick update

Rumors abound about Johnson's next coaching job. I, for one, hope he goes to Georgia Tech and proves to the ACC that his offense can, and will dominate. I wish we could have gotten him at Clemson, but apparently we're too stupid to realize we have a lemon.

Navy destroys Army 38-3

Here's the game Recap.

Yet again, when Paul Johnson plays against a team with similar recruiting circumstances, he destroys them.

In what would be good news for Clemson if our AD wasn't such an idiot, it looks like Nebraska is going to pass on Paul Johnson and hire LSU's Bo Pellini. This is just a rumor at this point, but it seems inevitable.

Paul Johnson a Hot Topic

Check out this article from the Baltimore Sun:

It seems every time a coach gets fired, Navy coach Paul Johnson's name appears on the list of most likely candidates for the job.

And why not? If Johnson's team wins Saturday's game against Army at M&T Bank Stadium, he will have accomplished just about all there is to do at Navy.

So it was no surprise this week after Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey was fired Monday that Johnson's name appeared in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as one of 11 possible candidates for the job. The paper noted that Johnson, 50, is familiar with Georgia football, having coached at Georgia Southern from 1997 to 2001 and won Division I-AA national championships there in 1999 and 2000, while recording a 62-10 record.

Then yesterday, during a conference call, Johnson was asked whether he had been contacted by or has interviewed with Nebraska for its coaching job, which became available last weekend when Bill Callahan was fired.

"I'm only going to answer questions about the Army-Navy game," Johnson said. "That's where our focus is this week."

Pressed about his name surfacing in connection with several other openings, Johnson was asked how he and his team can keep from being distracted this week.

"It's never come up with the team," he said. "And it's been the same situation every year, and we're still here. The kids know that if something were really going on, I would tell them."

The Worst Case Scenario has Happened

After yet another mediocre year at Clemson University, Tommy Bowden has been offered another contract extension.

Let's recap:
Years coached: 9
ACC title appearances: 0
ACC championships: 0
10 win seasons: 0
BCS Bowl appearances: 0
BCS Bowl wins: 0

Somehow, this equates to success in the minds of our Athletics Administration, and the majority of our fans. Folks, we are in bad shape. Our expectations are too low and we are too happy with being a middle of the road team.

Thus, there won't be many more posts at this blog for a while. I'll probably post a few things about Paul Johnson from time to time, but most of my focus will be on the new blog: The Antibowden.

That's right, I've actually started an anti-Tommy Bowden website. I have just been pushed over the edge by this latest news. I can't believe we're sticking with a MAC caliber coach just because his last name happens to be Bowden. Well, The Antibowden is my response.
